My name is Sue Cliff; I am an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.
My Turtle Mountain Chippewa lineage descends from the Red River Pembina Band. It is interwoven with that of the Chippewa, Cree, Nakoda, and Metis peoples. The Metis people are historically known for their expertise in floral beadwork, buffalo hunts, and horsemanship.
I use dentalium, abalone, freshwater pearls, seed beads, and other art components to create theme-based jewelry featuring the buffalo, horse, thunderbird, turtle, dragonfly, and other symbolic images.
